Voyage Phoenix Magazine reached out to me, recently asking to share a photo of mine!
Voyage Phoenix is actually a branch of Voyage Magazine, which began in Sunny L.A. They wanted to expand their reach, supporting artists and the local community so they created Voyage Phoenix. Their mission is to build a community that is strengthened through collaboration and supports local artists, entreprenuers, and small businesses!
Welcome to Phoenix, and I’m glad that I am able to be a part of this growing community! However, I wanted to reach out to my visitors and say that we all start small – we all start somewhere. My instagram was once attached to a fairly successful blog I ran as a Medical Student, which I abandoned after I withdrew. Last year I thought I would bring it back to fruition, but never kept at it after my photos went to 50- 100 likes from a regular 600 per photo in 2016!
However, it only took one photograph to be noticed.
A photo from over a year ago. That was all it took to catch the eye of someone and make a connection. Someone from Voyage Magazine noticed my very colorful makeup post from February 2018. (I was wearing Urban Decay’s Electric Palette and Kat Von D’s Alchemist Palette!)
This photo was so old that I was still a blonde (if you follow me on instagram, you’ll see I’m back to plain ol’ dark brown hair!), but I’m so glad that it’s stood the test of time!
When Voyage Phoenix asked me if they could share my instagram photo, of course I said, “Yes!”
My interest piqued even more when they let me know that there was an optional feature question that I could answer if I’d like.
Being the nerd I am and how much I do love parting wisdom, of course I had to draft my perfect response!
The question Voyage Phoenix asked?
What is the best advice you have for someone who feels like they are facing insurmountable odds?
While I feel that my answer was eloquent, yet to the point, I’d love if you checked out my response on their web magazine! It’s featured with several other strong female leaders in Phoenix, Arizona, as well!
Whenever I am facing a challenge that appears insurmountable, I remind myself that (1) everything happens for a reason and (2) I am the curator of my own destiny. I feel that it is important to recognize (and to take action on) what is in your control while letting go of what is not. Think positive and move forward to the best of your ability. The worst case scenario is that you will learn something new through the experience!
I couldn’t even help but recommend an artist I can’t help but follow on instagram! Networking and giving others the spotlight is what building a community is all about!
Until next time!
